Dumplings

All Happy Tummy dumplings are raw!  Make sure to store in the freezer until immediately before cooking so the dumplings retain their shape.  Cook thoroughly (to an internal temp of 165°).

How to Pan Fry Dumplings

  • In a nonstick pan over medium-high heat, add 1 tsp of oil.
  • Place the dumplings flat side down.
  • Add 1 tbsp of water per dumpling.
  • Cover the pan with a lid for ~10 minutes (until the internal temperature is 165 degrees).
👉 Make sure to cover your pan. This helps the insides to fully cook and prevents the dumpling skin from getting too dry.
  • Wait until all the water evaporates and the flat side is golden.
  • Tada~~~ You're ready to eat!

How to Steam Dumplings

  • 𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐬. Using cold water takes a much longer time and causes the dumplings to become soggy.
  • 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐳𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐧 a plate with a piece of parchment paper or a piece of green leaf on top of the plate. This will help the dumplings to not stick on the plate.
  • 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟏𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐝-𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭.Make sure to cover your pan. This helps the insides to fully cook and prevents the dumpling skin from getting too dry.
  • 𝐓𝐚𝐝𝐚 ~~~ 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐭!

Jasmine RICE

Jasmine White Rice sometimes needs a little fluffing up when it's been in the fridge for a while.  Give these extra steps a try if you feel your rice needs freshening up.

  • Add a little bit of water to the rice container, making sure it's evenly spread out across the rice.  Adjust the amount for how dry the rice seems.
  • Stick in the microwave for 1-2 min (until an internal temp of 165 degrees is reached).
  • Mix and check to see if the rice has absorbed all the water.  If not, stick back in the microwave for 1 more min.
  • And you're ready to enjoy!

PAd See Ew

Pad See Ew means "stir-fried soy sauce". It comes with vinegar and chili pepper flakes to use as a topping (this is what you'll find for toppings on the streets of Thailand).  Feel free to use as little or as much as you like to balance the taste.

To prepare the dish, use our Thai Grandma Style below.

How to Pan Fry Dumplings

  • Preheat a pan to medium-high heat.
  • Throw in the entire Pad See Ew (but not the toppings — save those for later)
  • Sauté for ~3-5 mins. Mix everything well.
  • Make sure the noodles are soft, have absorbed all of the sauce, and the sauce has caramelized around the dish ingredients.
  • Remove from the stove — and your Thai street food dish is ready to go!
  • Add chilies and/or vinegar as you like.
